This weekend I fished the Vernita area. I started Friday about 930 fishing solo. Had 1 take down in 30 minutes. My friends called me and told me to get up to their spot. They had 2 doubles and another fish in 30 minutes. Well I was part of the best bite i have ever seen in 12 years down on the reach. My friends grandson got in my boat and we went 3/8 and he already had a fish. They got 11 fish. Beteeen the 2 boats over 25 fish were hooked, broke off , or came unbuttoned all in a matter of 2 hours. Hot tamale either style with chrome protroll flasher was hot. Actually anything with red seemed to get bit. Fishing in 24 fow and dowriggers @ 17&19.
Saturday was slow for my brother and I as we went 1/4 with and friends boat got five and 3 respectively before 9. Sunday my brother had to leave early so I fished solo. Have been wanting to dry downhill troll with lead balls. So, after one practice run and a tangle , I told myself last pass. Lines out 5 minutes and pole gets slammed. Fought it, ran boat, brought in 2nd pole and finally netted this 20.3lb hen and was done by 9. Original rotten bananna w/flasher and 24 inch bumper and 120z lead. My friends had there limits by 9 as well and today Monday 4 fish by 915. Just a tip when fishing solo is your have your net already extended, cause its real difficult to lock it in when fighting a king ??. And watch for changing water, friends got this picture of rocked up boat. Headed back down Wed-Sunday.
