GREAT start to the 2018 Lake Washington Coho season. Fished the Kirkland (Moss Bay) area this morning and the fishing was lights out. Cut plug herring (by itself) and a dodger 16” in front of a chartreuse 2.0” squid with a smile blade topped with coon shrimp was the gear of choice. Troll speed was 2.0 - 2.4 mph. We fished in 45-65’ of water and the gear was adjusted to where the fish were. We chased marks from 20’ to the bottom. If you mark schools on the bottom keep your gear right above them and kick the boat out of gear for a couple of sec. and speed back up. That drives them crazy. Get out there and get them before the netting starts. FISH ON <•((((<

Nice! When does the netting start and what's the daily limit for Coho? Do you have to release the native Coho?

I don’t know what the netting schedule is. You can keep all Coho. 4 a day. There is not many native Coho in Lk. Wa

Don’t hesitate to call WDFW to get all your regulation questions answered. They might also know the netting schedule. Do not take anyone’s word when it comes to regs.

Fantastic report. Getting my gear ready today for tomorrow. Was early morning the best or did you catch them throughout the day. I will be fishing by 10am tomorrow.

We were out there at about 7 and were done in less than an hour, so to answer your question...early morning

Hey King me! Kinda confused on what you mean by having cut plug by itself but then also have the squid and coon shrimp as well attached to the dodger? Any way I could get a picture? Heading out in the morning for the first time and any help would be amazing

Sorry about the confusion.
What I mean is: 1 rod has a cut plug no flasher or dodger and the other rod has the dodger followed by a squid. On the squid set up, I like to tip the top hook with brined Coon shrimp (the pink ones in a jar you can buy at any tackle store or even Fred Meyer in their bait fridge). Hope that clears it up for you and good luck
