First time we were fishing lake. Took a while to find the area to catch in. Monday arrived and started fishing around 3 pm until 8 pm.
Launched at Willaby, wasted 2-3 hours at south end of lake, caught some small rainbows. Found a couple nice cutthroat and a Dolly Varden
midway up the West side of lake to the North end. Tuesday started 8:30 and spent another 3 hours going up East side of lake and North end with no results. Got back to midpoint of Westside and got into fish again. (Look for a couple houses that remind you of Cabelas).
Got 3 nice Dolly Varden to 4 lbs. and lost 2 more. Caught 4 nice cutts, released4-6 smaller rainbows Quit at 8pm.
Wed. fished from 8:30 until 1 PM. Two 3-5 lb. Dollys , a couple rainbow and two 16 inch cutts landed, one Dolly lost at net and a couple heavy fish that escaped unseen. Almost all fish caught 50 feet on the downriggers. Most active lure was a 3 inch bright sparkle red with silver opposite spoon. Other rod with Purple and Silver Coho Killer wasnt as active but got some quality fish.
A couple nice cutts were caught on a pink and white fly and one heavy takedown was surely a Dolly but didnt stay on long.
All the cutts and Dollys had 2 to 4 inch fish in their stomachs. The rainbows had mostly small crustaceans like snails.
NOTE on Willaby campground. Very short parking at campsites. Will not have room to park vehicle and boat at site. There is parking at
launch but if you like to be able to watch your equipment you might want to consider other camp areas.
Sorry, pics are in phone. I will add if I figure it out.
