I know I submitted this report as if we were targeting pike, but this was actually intended to be a perch outing. We fished the weed bed edges near Willow Bay with a variety of different crappie jigs and spinner baits. Incredibly smokey, but a lot of fun was had. My son (pictured) caught his first pike and it measured out at 8lbs, 31". Not a bad fish at all! It looks smaller in his hands because the kid is 6'2". In addition to the pike we caught lot of tiny bass (both lmb and smallies), several nice perch, lots of small perch, one tiny crappie, a beautiful rainbow and several squaw fish (all released into the sweet embrace of the ever-present osprey). This really is a fun fishery.
