Made the annual trip to Spectacle lake with my buddy and his family this year and man the fishing was fantastic! Weather was real smokey and the resort was pretty dead. That being said it was the best August fishing there we have ever had. Non-stop action for all fish in the few days we stayed. We caught largemouth mostly, smallmouth, crappie, sunfish/bluegill, perch, and kokanee. We had great success for all fish off of the weedlines. Bass were from shore to 20 ft deep. My friends brother got the largest of the trip pushing about 4.5 lbs. We caught them using crankbaits. senkos, plastics, etc. for the Kokanee we used deep 6s or just pulled pop gear. We even caught one kokanee fishing with a crappie jig. Used dicknites and wedding rings with corn for the kokanee. They were in about 30-40 fow and around 15-25 deep, all were around 15in long and pretty fat.
The crappie were mostly caught fishing with bass jigs/senkos about 3-4" in length. My buddy and I haven't caught crappie before so it was a great by-catch. All were good size. Top 3 were .7, .7, and .75 lbs.

A Lot of the bass were 1.5-2.5 range and they fought like crazy! very consistent action for the most part. I cant wait to make it back next year. Maybe going to try to hit in earlier in the year around May-June and possibly August as well. This lake is turning into a good kokanee lake and resort is a great place to stay. The owners still know who I am every year and are very nice and accommodating.

Yeah, the resort is such a great place to make base-camp at. Glad to hear the Spectacle fishing was so good this time.
I find it a great place to stay, and super nice folks, but usually kind of a weak fishery.
Cool you did so well at Whitehorse. I always drive past Whitehorse, but you put up some nice largies. You should go down the back road between Loomis and Conconully. There are some fine lakes back there, as well as Bonaparte is fishing outstanding.
Thanks for your report!
