Last evening I hit the lake with a raft and a friend. We pushed off near the clearing a bit south of the main fishing dock and cast into the lily-pads. I used my trustworthy rapala, trout pattern. The moment the lure hit the water a fat bass exploded on it. After a decent fight, I unhooked it. It was a solid 10 incher, one of the biggest I've seen on this lake. The next 2 hours were extremely fun, as we could see the bass exploding on the water. I pulled in a couple smaller bass, it seems there was a good spawn this spring as there were many small ones and they were aggressive, sometimes even jumping on the fishing line itself. I cast off farther south by the lilypads and caught another bass, this time bigger and about 12 inches long. In the end, I caught multiple bass, although some smaller than what I hoped for, my friend pulled out another, and there were plenty of dinks.

Plenty of fun from the smaller ones, and the little ones can sure fool you with the way they hit, and fight.

That is fun working the weeds for LMB. I tried a 4" standard floating rapala in short jerks back in. Nice blowups and sometimes just next to shore. Who knows, maybe some will become lunkers.
