So had planned to fish all weekend but with my wife's trip cancelled she had other plans for the house and yard! I worked like a beaver and got all my chores done so was able to sneak out Sunday morning to play! Saw 10-15 mph winds on Lake WA so decided to make the long haul up to Baker to do a little pre-fishing before my trip in a couple weeks.

Got to the launch at 4:45 and wasn't too bad a line at Swift creek so soon I had the boat in the water and heading up to the north end of the lake. Saw the flotilla of boats over on the noisy creek side so decided to work the opposite side of the lake to start- got my lines out about 20 feet behind the boat and started my troll where I was marking some fish between 25 and 35 feet. Troll speed between 0.9 and 1.2 making S turns and changing depths, changing set-ups, changing scents and baits and for the life of me could not get a bite! Saw a few nets come out and some fish caught around me but they were not interested in what I was offering today I guess!

Finished about 10:30 am and got back to the launch just ahead of the rush but when I went to my trailer noticed that one of my bunks was over on its side- went to straighten it up and it came off in my hands! Yikes! Quickly got some bunge cords out of the truck and jimmy rigged it back onto the brackets just enough to hold so when I pulled the boat onto the trailer they held! Phew!!

Unfortunately this means I may be out of commission until I get this fixed as I can't take the chance of a mishap on the highway- was a white knuckle ride home watching the rear view mirror often to make sure the boat stayed straight on the trailer. Called the guys I bought the trailer from 10 years ago and they are ordering me new bunks and hardware so will be taking it in to get it replaced this Friday! He said it may take up to a week to get it back so fingers crossed it will be sooner- Won't see you on the water for a bit haha!

Darn Barry, nothing like salt in the wound. Glad you made it home in one piece. Thanks for the report. Andy

Thanks for the beautiful pictures of the Baker Lake area and of Mt. Baker - - - certainly one of my favorites over the past 60 years. Whether one does well or not on the fishing front, the scenery itself is well worth the trip to that area.
