What a great trip! Well once we got fishing. Kinda a ruff start tho. It’s early kids are little crabby. Lost the little connector for the end of the steering arm from the main motor to the kicker on the way down this morning Grrr. But we can troll at 1.5 on idle in neutral with the main motor on so... we just used that. We have a 17 foot wooldridge Jet and don’t need a dock so we can use the dirt launch about a mile up the Okanogan river and avoid the mad house that is the launch in Brewster. This launch has a a little funky gravel launch and you kinda jackknife the trailer at the end but I like this one. It’s a quick run down the river and bam your on the fish right in front of the mouth.
Fishing was steady all morning you see fish going in boats left and right. It’s crowded, I did hook another guys downrigger with one of my poles he was nice enough to toss my stuff back on the next pass by. Seen a guy toss a good handful of shrimp to another boat that was cool to see. lots of smiles even tho you could high five the guys in the boats next to you. We had steady bites about every 15 minutes or so we would get a bite. Pink coon shrimp did the trick 14” leader or so. Caught fish on both Small and large Mack’s DD dodger, les Davis chrome 0 dodger was working too. Mack’s pink /chrome smile blade couple beads and a pink 0 Gamakatsu octopus hook.
These are really nice looking fillets!
