slow is the word.. ohhh.. don't forget the wind..

headed out Friday morning around 8am from coulee city.. weather report was wind was spose to pick up as the day went on. fished all the "hot spots" I know of with just a little luck.. trolling spinners.. jigging.. weaving in and out of 12-40+ FOW .. weeds are getting thicker now around 14 FOW . caught a few dinks and just 2 keepers by 2 o'clock when that pesky wind started to blow 30-35 MPH I would guess.. it was damn rough so off to the hotel for a nap.. dinner. and a good nights sleep. a couple other boats were there as well.. both with the same story.. very slow for banks. Saturday morning wind had eased. out of the south again and the bite was just as slow.. picking up but 3 keepers by 4 pm .not sure if it has much to do with it.. but seems when the wind is from the south which it doesn't seem to be often there .. fishing is slow.. was still better than working =)

A slow story to say the least. Still beats work on any day though. Wind from the South does seem to be a problem.

so it appears south is bad.. any other direction good.. I haven't seen it blow this hard and all day long in the past few years .. maybe I just picked better days .. was smarter before this year lol

Getting to be that time of year when night fishing takes over.

Thanks for an honest report. Sounds like my experience in June. Talked to the biologist and it appears we are in a year of smaller fish, but should improve the next two years. After talking to guides and a gear shop, their experiences are the same. Disappointing for certain. Hot and cold for the bite seems to be the norm now. With walleye, you never know what will flick on the switch or when. I always hope for good fall fishing at this time of year. Best of luck to you out there.
