My buddy Michael took me fishing this afternoon where he has had some previous success in the past. We headed to 3 Tree Point and where fishing on the South side of the point mostly. We were fishing in out 150 feet of water and placed our downriggers at a depth of 50-65ft (be careful because the point gets really shallow really quick). We weren't out there for more than 30 minutes when we got our fist hit. The first hook off was a shaker, but the 2nd hook-up was a nice 27inch Chinook Salmon. It put up a great fight and was definitely fun to catch. Sadly during the process of getting the fish in the cooler my lure feel off the boat and our outboard motor cut off my lure and flasher. If this would not have happen, I sure would would have had more hook-ups.
I was using an 2.8" Old Goat Lure fluorescent green-black scales/fluoro white body. I have had great success with this lure in the past and will be ordering some more. I had more Old Goat Lure's in my box, but they were the 3.9" and for some reason, the salmon like the smaller one. Stick with what works, correct!!!
P.S. I heard the OG2 fluorescent white with green top/pink underside have been working well in the sound this year.
