Fished Goodwin in the afternoons on Saturday and Sunday. I put my boat in for a few weeks to give my old lake a shot. Fished for smallmouth Saturday mid day and afternoon. Tried alot if areas, depths, and tactics and didn't get a thing. So we started trolling deep diving hard baits and my buddy had a hit immediately and we got a 20 plus inch 3 lb trout. Decided to let him go back (slipped from my buddies hand) and didn't get much more than a few hits and called it due to heat and plans.
I took my wife and the dogs out Sunday for the first time on the new boat and got her her 1st trout! She was excited and so were the dogs. We BBQed the fish along with other fathers day food and it tasted great. Tried pop gear as well with no luck. I think I might try still fishing power bait next time, and morning bass fishing. Both trout were caught opposite from Wenburg in about 20 ft of water. Crawdad color was also what both fish hit, water temps were 69-71 degrees.

Nice! It's killing me not being able to fish Goodwin until fall :(

My family's neighbor has caught a 4.5lb trout recently too, the average size fish are 16 to 17in and chunkie. The fish my wife caught was 16.5in but we didnt weight it. Fall should produce a good amount of fish i would think with such little pressure.

I can't imagine how much potential money they are losing by having Wenberg closed off all summer. It will be great with the new launch and dock though. I suppose I will have to survive until October. End of October is my favorite time there anyway, there's a massive hatch that happens right around then and the fish are al healthy and fat.

Yeah it's crazy. I hope they don't up their launch or parking fees because of the updates and lost summer income
