This report is way late- sorry. I fished mid April in water about 45 degrees. I used a worm harness with slow death hook. Orange smile blade outfished green. I caught most fish around the island, but the split rock side of the lake was also good. Several big male fish about 5 lbs. Also nice sized hens. All fish are very healthy. Maneuvering around the current flow and staying in slow water near spawning territory was the key for me. Biggest fish was a 29 inch 10 lb female. That is my biggest at Rufus to date. I have pics but refuse to learn how to use the phone to transfer pics. Maybe later.

I'm new to fishing walleye on Rufus. Where is the island I've seen referenced in several reports?

The island is just downstream from the boat launch at Seaton's Grove.
