I went out again this weekend and camped from saturday morning until monday afternoon. I just bought a new 2wt echo glass and wanted to break it in, so i went to a lake i know will almost always produce big numbers of 14"-18" native rainbows. I primarily fished a vampire leech casted and stripped to risers but also fished a wine/gold chironomid aswell. Both produced fish but the vampire leech was the better producer. I caught 16 rainbows saturday evening on my vintage 6 wt wright and mcgill fiberglass. Mostly between 15"-17". The next morning i set up my 2 wt echo glass and immediately got into lots of fish. I ended up catching 37 fish by noon with one fish measuring 18 1/2" and likely weighing a bit over 2 lbs. From 1 oclock to 4 i took a nap then got out again until sundown and caught 24 more rainbows. The next morning the action died off a bit and I only managed 1 fish to hand in a couple hours so i packed up and left.
