Hit American Lake this morning, began fishing around 8 am. FIshed all over the lake in search of kokanee since they weren't to be found in my usual fishing area on the west side of the island. Threw a little bit of everything at them but no luck. Finally decided to make the trip not a total loss so I switched to trout gear and landed several planter sized trout. Some were pretty feisty and were thick bodied. Released them all to fight another day. Lost my water bottle AGAIN, forgot to take it from the trailer step before I pulled out :-( Walmart's making a killing on me with all the water bottles I lose! lol

Got the lowdown from Bill's Boathouse. The State only planted fingerling Kokanee this season. Bill's quit raising trout because of an Otter problem. Thus Kokanee is extremity slow and trout fishing is down.

I marked tons of fish all over the lake, and there were plenty of planter trout still around, but the kokanee are practically non-existent. Didn't see or hear of anyone getting them yesterday.
