Thanks for the report, I live in Coulee City and fish Banks a lot. Since the first part of March I have been saying another week or so but I'm not sure if the lake will fish good at all this year. The past two years since the limits changed on Banks the fishing has been declining. There have been massive amounts of Walleye taken in that time frame, last year it was not uncommon to count 75 to 100 boats fishing the lake seven days a week and at two to three folks per boat and if only half of them limited that is a bunch of fish harvested everyday all summer long. A lot of the fish that people see right on the bottom are Burbot, Carp and Whitefish as well as Walleye, the fish that are mid column and on top are Kokanee and Trout. The state put about one million Kokanee in the lake just last year and very few people target them. Once the water temp is above 70 degrees the Walleye will start to suspend to about mid column and can be caught on diving plugs.

....and like Gordon used to tell us, "Lake Roosevelt was the walleye hatchery for Banks Lake" - for the past few years the efforts on the San Poil
and spokane arm to mitigate (there are those that live nearby that would like to alleviate the walleye entirely) the natural walleye reproduction
by reducing their numbers is having an effect as well. Wife and I just spent 10 days fishing Banks and the catching was very slow - we worked for everyone we got. We worked just about all the norther half of the lake and you're right about the fishing pressure, we saw it every day we were there. I've been debating a report, but it would be mostly bitch'n - wife would do the bragg'in though, she got a 31 incher on 8# line - 13minutes to get it to the boat and the net was too small - was literally a handful getting in the boat.
