First cast at about 7AM. Started near the north side along the west bank. Water is ripply with a constant breeze. Figured swimbait and jerk and possible spinnerbait will be my best bet. Got a chase from a small SMB on my swimbait. Spotted a pair of LMB in the ~2# range just cruising together on the inside weed edge. After about a hr with no hookup, i motored across and test the east bank.
A few casts with my jerk and I set the hook on what feels like a monster. Flashes and see it's a LMB but not as big as it feels due to the way it's hooked across it's face. Scoop it up @ 2.95#. Worked that little area fighting the breeze with nothing else to show for it. So I start heading south.
Ran my swimbait across the front of a dock and BAM! Up comes a SMB. Long and skinny. Almost 19" and only 2.51#.
Continue along and get another #er or so SMB and LMB on the swimbait. Go back to working the jerk and whoa, I started to light them up. Next few hours, i think I caught over 20 SMB on the jerk. Several more in the 2# range, but nothing big enough to bother weighing. Majority were in the 1# range. A few little bit smaller.
Tried to track down my lost jerkbait from last week, but all I found was ~1.5# SMB in the area.
It was overcast the majority of the time there. The sun started poking back out at about 11:30-11:45AM and the bite started to slow down. Stil caught a couple more but called it good at about 12:15PM.
Met Steve and his wife on the water. Nice to officially meet you Steve.
