I got on the water at 8am, water temp was 55. I started marking fish right out of the launch from 10-25 ft of water, I tied up a pink hoochie(squid) with fast limit dodger and corn, to no avail. I then proceeded to throw every color imaginable, I changed depths on my down riggers, I went to topwater with no down riggers , I changed speeds, flies, rapalas, apexs, hoochies with worm and or with corn, different dodgers and nothing seemed to get their attention. I trolled 1 rod for trout/kokanee and 1 rod I tried to keep below the baitfish on my screen with a larger flatfish to entice a lake trout bite. I guess my boat just stunk yesterday. The water temp moved up to almost 58 by the time I got off the water at 1:30, the water did seem a bit murky to me as well, good luck out there.

Im sorry to hear that you had a rough outing on loon... The wife and I fish loon at least twice a month because it is my wife's favorite lake to visit. We find that our best luck comes on pinkam and black wedding rings towed behind Macs gold or silver flashers and tipped with shoe peg corn that's been soaked in minced garlic... We went out on opening weekend and managed to have a ok day even though it poured rain all afternoon. Good luck out there I hope to see you there.

Thanks for the tips! I will likely be out there tomorrow to give it a go, I have had quite a bit of success here before just not my last trip! I think the garlic is a good idea for sure. I do quite a bit of Mack fishing on Priest and can't seem to get the buggers to bite on Loon, there must not be a whole lot of them around these days. Thanks again, say hi if you see a red 17' Lund with yamaha's, thats me.
