After seeing all the great reports I changed my plans and went after koks on Lk. Stevens. What a disappointment! We started fishing at 6am and by 9am only managed 1. We only saw a couple other fish caught also so I don’t think it was us.

Fortunately I am a bass fisherman at heart and I threw in my bass gear just in case. We managed to catch a couple of smallmouth (my first shallows if the year) using perch crankbaits. Saw many beds and some pretty nice fish. The bass were caught at the end of docks which is where we saw most of the beds at. They were all in 4-8 ft of water.

Thank you to my fishing buddy Emilio (aka Locoyo) for meeting me out there. What a beautiful day to be on the water.

Lake Stevens (my opinion only) for Kokanee seems to be a early morning/first light kind of thing. You can get them later in the day and do but... early morning first light unless it's overcast..... if the fish had been a cooperative mood (which they I guess weren't) you should have had more success from 6 to 7 a.m. at least... and the weather was nice- and best of all not overloaded at that point by water skiers.

Yeah the morning did make a difference. I went out yesterday Saturday fished 5:30 to 8 and got 3 before 7. Will be going earlier next!
