So we decided to go fishing on Loon Lake on Sunday, figure that we could catch some kokanee for the smoker. Got to the lake around 2 pm and in the water and fishing by 2:30 pm. We where just using some home made wedding rings and a couple new tiny flat fish that my wife picked out as a joke. After 45 minutes of fishing and 2 entanglements we caught our first kokanee on one of the tiny flat fish. We preceded to catch 3 more kokanee and miss several more bites before the wind blew in the rain and blew us out to the deep area of the lake. After trying to turn or straighten out to no avail all of the sudden our down rigger line with the tiny neon pink flat fish violently broke free and 20 min later we landed the largest fish that we have ever caught on loon lake. A 12 pound lake trout, on the smallest hook on the boat. About the size of trebble hook you would use for kokanee rigging or the size of a finger nail clipping. All and all a fun, wet, and cold day. Good luck to everyone this season.
