For opening day, I headed out to Storm lake. I began fishing at 10:45am and noticed hardly anyone there. The game checker said there were a lot of folks earlier but after they caught their fish they left. Weather was light rain. Began trolling a Pink top God's Tooth spoon set on fast action and quickly started getting action. After awhile I switched to a Green Top and caught a few more. Switched back to a Pink Top slow action and caught a bunch more. Switched to a Frog pattern and a bunch more caught. Then tried the 50/50 Blue and did great on that too. Final total was God blessed with 77 fish! All fish safely released to fight another day. Decided to quit about 4:15 pm. I flatlined the spoons and no additional weight was used as the fish were in the top 5' of the water column. Mostly trolled but did do some cast and retrieve on occasion which worked well. All fished appeared to be stockers ranging from about 9" to 13". The video below shows some of the action for the day and wishing all tight lines!

Elgin how fast were you going ? Looks like about 1.0 or less ? Where do we get your spoons in Seattle ?

I was trolling about 1.5mph and there were times I stopped and did cast and retrieve. I also tend to shut the motor off when I fight fish. You can purchase online at John's, Ted's Sportscenter or Zombie Tinder. Doug's boats in Woodinville also carries them. Please see "where to buy" on our website elginfishing.com....Thanks!

Sorry mean't to say Lures...Also do you sit on the floor of your inflatable or on a cushion in your video ? Looks comfortable. I like your extension to the tiller of the electric motor. I also like put the motor in neutral as well because it's easier I think on the fish and less chance of your line getting caught in a spinning prop when the fish is next to the boat.

No worries, they are spoons. I do sit on an air cushion, makes life comfortable :)

Question: Does Storm Lake's boat ramp accommodate boats over 14'? I have a little bit bigger, heavier aluminum and was wondering if it would launch there. Thanks.

It's a dirt primative launch. I think it would be very challenging. You may have to go check it out to be sure. I launch a raft.
