Al figured the IRS would be too busy processing tax forms to have any agents in the field so he ventured out in public yesterday. We headed north from Blue Heron launch and had lines in the water at 8:00 AM. It took only a minute to get the skunk out of the box with a 14” eye. We got a few bullheads and 2 more eyes over the next 2 hours. The bite picked up for us at 10:00 and the fishing remained steady the next 3 hours. We ended up with 20 walleyes on a beautiful day. Most of the fish were 14-16” with the largest 18.5”.
We pulled slow death rigs in 5-10 FOW at 1.0-1.2 MPH. Green and chartreuse beads with silver smiley and butterfly blades worked best for us. Water temp 58-62*. There were a dozen other boats in the area and it appeared everyone was getting fish.
We released Al to an undisclosed location after another great day on the water.
