First trip out on the water since hibernation. It's been a long winter. Had work done on the motor and wasn't sure if everything was put back into place.... Had a minor glitch that I figured out after a phone call. Then out onto the water. I believe I got there right before 11AM today and the parking lot had a lot of rigs. 1st row all filled up already.

Turn key and motor starts! Test forward gear and it goes forward! Test reverse and it goes reverse. All is right in the world.

I just motored around for a bit to make sure nothing sounds unusual. After about 20-30 mins of just boating around, I pulled up to a shallow flat that usually has lots of beds. Fished it for a bit but not seeing a single bed. Either i'm way late or too early.

Moved around to another flat with a quick drop. Found 2 beds at the end of 2 docks in ~8-10' of water. Both had 2 fish in it. Could barely see them. That high bright sun sure helps... lol . Got swipe on a fat tube, no hookups.

Fished a deep point with no bites. Moved to a deep hump that had markings. Had a couple of nibbles, but no hookup. Probably perch or sculpins.

Getting a little red, so was going to head in with a big fat zero. On the way back, figured might as well pulled into a deep drop that has been productive in the past. First cast and fish on! Knew it wasnt big, but felt huge since it's been so long I've felt a fish lol. It's your average 15-16" SMB.

I fished this area for about 15 more mins before calling it quits. Got another nibble but no hookup. Beautiful day on the water, but surprised by the amount of people out. Don't they have to be at work?!?!?

I was at work! Committed to do volunteer work, but it was hard to be inside with our first hot day out. Next week.......
Yup, just need a little warmer water temps. Almost there. It was 52 degrees surface temps on Monday.

I guess we are going to have to get used to slow Smallie fishing if the Indians keep netting our bass in Lake Sammamish. Gill Nets all along the shore lines just as the water is warming up and the bass are moving into the shallows? You can kiss all the big bass goodbye. I can’t believe the state is allowing this to happen. I called Wdfw interim director Joe Storh and he claimed he knew nothing about it. Said he would look into it and get back to me.
That was two days ago. Still waiting for that call.
