Made it to the ocean for clamming for the first time this year. Friday 5 of us clammed at the Roosevelt Beach Access (mocrocks) and dug 5 limits, Saturday 5 of us clammed at Ocean Shores (copalis) and dug 5 limits, and today 4 of us returned to roosevelt and dug 4 limits.

Friday and saturday I did some surf perch fishing in the afternoons and managed to catch my first red tail perch ever. I caught 8 on friday and 3 on saturday.

Beautiful weekend on the coast. The most people I have ever seen razor clamming at once, but there were easy limits to be had. Clams seemed smaller this year than last, especially at mocrocks, but I cant complain while digging in the sun.

My wife, dog, and I dug at Roosevelt Beach on Thursday. Largest crowds I have ever seen, but the clams were and we managed easy limits. Our weather was perfect.

Today if you looked south on Roosevelt it was a solid wall of bodies, no blue sky between them. But it was also my fastest limit of the weekend, less than 15 minutes. Share the beach, enjoy the view, plenty of clams for everybody!

I knew we should have headed up that way instead. We went south of Westport and not only were the crowds insane, but the clams were hard to come by. Saw a few people with limits, but most were struggling to get a couple of clams. We got enough for a batch of chowder (which was delicious) so we were happy enough.

Those perch look fun, I'm going to have to try it my next week off. I kept some sand shrimp that I caught while clamming so I hope they like them.

I only used the gulp camo sandworms. I tried clam necks for a while on one hook and gulp worm on the other and got 3 bites on the artificial without a single one on the clamneck before switching back to gulp on both hooks.

It was a ton of fun dodging waves and trying to find schools of those things. Will definitely try again next time I'm at the ocean.

I got some of those sandworms too, I just thought, why not give the shrimp a try since I caught some. I've never tried ocean perch fishing, so it should be a fun adventure. I'm curious how a small paddle tail swimbait might work for them too. Maybe a little Keitech Swing Impact or something. I definitely plan on trying those for the rock fish when I give that a shot.
