Got to Rattlesnake around 10:00, it was sunny and the lake was like glass, big change from that last couple days. Trolled numerous types and colors of lures and hadn't even gotten a bite by 2:00. The wind picked up and the lake got rough so decided to head in and take my first skunk while using my kayak. Was at the far end of the lake so put on a 1/2 oz gold/pink Kastmaster and started back. About 2/3's of the way to the launch I finally got a hit and landed an average size Rainbow.

I guess a few other folks had the same idea I did as the launch was a bit jammed up with people taking out (and one boat going in). The wind had calmed down a bit by this time and the water in the launch area wasn't that bad so I started doing big loops down along the shore, out towards center and back towards the launch. On that first past I had a couple hits but couldn't hook up. Did a few more circuits and the same thing. Finally the launch cleared so I took one of my rods out of the holder and started reeling in, as soon as the speed changed by doing that I had a fish on. Got it in and instead of going in, started trolling around the same circuit this time not using the holder and just holding the rod out and giving it a little jerk every few seconds. That must have been the trick as I had a bunch more hits and managed to net another two fish before finally deciding I really had to leave.

On my last trip in towards the launch I was doing the same thing and I had a big hit, I set the hook and then nothing. The line felt very light so I reeled it in and saw that my leader had snapped losing my 3/8 oz blue/silver Kastmaster, bummer! If you happen to catch a fish with one of those in its mouth let me know, as I'd like it back! It was barbless of course so I doubt that will happen but I can at least hope, caught a bass once in Canada that had a bunch of other gear in its mouth that it had snapped off from other anglers...
