First after work trip of the year. Left the launch a few minutes before 6 and fished until 7:30. I fished the lake on Sunday and had a spot to fish in mind, so we beelined straight for that spot and threw the anchor over. On my 2nd cast I accidentally flipped the bail closed and snapped off my favorite gold panther martin. But after tying on a rainbow trout pattern of the same size the bites started immediately. 2 of us casted various spinners, spoons, and lures and we landed around 14 fish. Many more fish were lost during acrobatic jumps or headshakes right next to the boat. Most were small (8-10") and were released to grow up and be caught again. I also released about an 11" trout that I think was either a cutthroat or a cutthroat-rainbow hybrid, it was hard to ID. We kept 4 of the bigger rainbows (11-12") to take home and eat.
As the evening hatch progressed and the fish started rising more frequently they became exceedingly disinterested in our tackle and I think we only landed 1 in our last 20 minutes on anchor.
Beautiful night to take a boatride after work. The good fishing was a bonus.
