Was itching to catch a fish, and despite the nasty weather forecast for friday the morning started off decently, overcast with light winds in Bellingham. So after finishing my morning chores I went out to buy a new discover pass and give terrell lake a visit.

Upon arriving it was clear I wouldnt be taking my boat out. The wind in ferndale was far stronger than at my house, and white caps were forming on the lake's surface. So I headed down to the very nice fishing dock to give casting a chance. With nearly 20mph winds directly in my face, there wasn't much option but to put 1/2 oz weight on with power eggs from the bottom. With the chop on the surface my rod tips were dancing the whole time, but never because of fish. After about an hour the rain picked up and was soaking me sideways, so I threw in the towel. This lake has always been a tough one for me, but it was the weather that was the biggest obstacle today.

Good job putting in the effort. And thanks for a good report; short, informative, and well written. (others should take notice)

I agree with how helpful all reports are. Sometimes I post my not so great days and some people are rude about it. They only want to know whats hot. Better weather is on the way! Good luck!

Yeah, I'm not real consistent about posting my bad days, I know 1s dont get much traffic and many are on this site just to see where they should head next weekend, but especially on smaller, lesser known lakes I like to add a report with the hope that it might spark some discussion or other reports for the area. I had some good insight given to me by a commenter on a 1 report I gave to lake fazon recently.

Did you make it out to that lake? I have been hitting Terell the last couple weeks and doing very well for largemouth.

I grew up about 2 miles NE of Lake Terrell. First fish I ever caught was a cat fish(bullhead) in Terrell creek about 60 feet from where Alder Grove road goes over the creek. Will always remember that monster. It was all of 8 inches long. That was the start of many days of fishing enjoyment. It was back in 1953 when I was about 5 years old. Used to hunt around lake Terrell too quite a bit. There were some beaver channels you didn't want to fall into when you were walking around the lake. You're hat would be floating in a second if you weren't careful. Fun place to grow up.

If you go to Weather Underground (online or app), there's a station less than a mile from Lake Terrell that reports winds. I'm only about 5 miles away from there but have, on more occasions than I can count, looked outside to barely see a blade of grass moving only to get to Terrell and find it white capped. I've started using that station as my gauge and it hasn't failed me yet. It's identifier is KWAFERND31.
