What can I say, This time of year is great for LOTS of Kokanee and if great lake if the wind isn't ripping to hard up there. Now this lake is known for its late afternoon winds so don't get too far down there if you don't have the power to make it back. Over the years I have towed countless rafts and small craft back from the Dam end of the lake. (Don't let this happen to you !!!) This time year the boat lunches are all dry and it can only be reached by cartop or inflatable so be forewarned.
On to the fishing, The water has 20' visibility and it was stunning to see a HUGH school of squawfish in 8' feet of water.
1.5 Ounces of weight with a small dodger and green wedding ring was all it took get things started. Once you hit the drop-off at 60' (Vary to time of year) You start seeing groups of 4 to 12 fish and mostly around the 30 to 40 foot range. This lake has HUGH fish and I have caught many large Cutts and Dollies (Always Releasing).
The short growing cycle means his time of year they bite anything, Keep it simple, lite and deep.
Remember the 2 trout, 16 Kokanee limit and did I mention there's NO biting bugs up that high up so its one of those great lakes to hit on a hot summers day.
Team Kosh will keep you undated on this great fishery !!!
