Had a fun day today even though there was some rain and it was a bit cold. Got to the launch around 8:30. Noticed boats were already heading in! I guess I like sleeping to much...

Drove out from the boat launch and tucked our selves in with the crowd where the lake drops off after the no wake buoy from the City Ramp. Started trolling around with three different Kokanee setups, speeds in between .9 and 1.3 mph. Didn't have luck. All sorts of different depths and rigs. We were using maggots and Fire Corn.

We used a Clown Dick Nite dodger, 50/50 dodger and a RMT Pink and Silver tear drop dodger.

There were about 10 boats on the water and we were pretty close together. Lots of fun folks on the water today. There was a lot of yelling our frustrations back and forth. Haha. I didn't see anyone or hear of anyone catching a single fish today. I believe I saw quite a few NWFR members out there. I'm think I saw JoshH and I believe ElginFishing also? Hope you guys had better luck. Anyway I posted a picture of my boat. If anyone sees me out there next time feel free to say hey!
On a side note there were a ton of large trout jumping on the surface so I tried flat lining a 50/50 gold and silver dodger withe a pink Kokanee spoon but still had no luck!

If anyone did well today can you maybe sneak a few tips in my PMs?! Pretty please?! hahaha

I'm all about community so if anyone is heading out give me buzz.

Cheers all...

I was not out Saturday either, but I was there Sunday (today) I have a tan colored Hobie with 2 downriggers, and I always have a orange safety flag flying when I am on Stevens. Hope to see you out there sometime! Today was pretty rough too but I did scratch out 8 fish. Best tips I have are troll slow right now, try and stay right around 1mp, don't think I have had any bites faster than 1.25mph. Fish are deep right now, but should be coming closer to the surface once the water warms up about 4 degrees. Be on the lake before first light. Stevens in a notorious early light fishery. The bite will stop, and go dead for a period, if you haven't limited, stick it out an hour or two, they will start biting again, just not like they do pre-dawn - dawn. And use God's Tooth Spoons rigged by Reli-Lures :)

Doh! I feel silly now, the gentlemen I saw had a orange Hobie with two downriggers but no safety flag.

Thanks for the helpful info! Look forward to seeing everyone out there.

JoshH I'll be there this Saturday 21st in a tan hobie, single downrigger and leadcore. Hope to see ya out there!

FlyfishingKen hit that water early 6am! Start off with a flat line and one at 35 ft, drop to 40 around 8 and finally 60 around 9 (if they are not producing around 40ft), deeper they go, the tougher it gets (glow/UV, bigger lures, thumper dodgers, strong scent) . The more we get into May.. they tend to stay up and get better for catching. Thight lines!

I had the other red Bimini out on Saturday. I think I got on the water about 11:00, felt the bite was pretty decent until the squall came in at 12:30 and shut it down for me. Only hit 3-4 more between then and leaving at 3:00. Basically mimicking what Josh is doing, little different corn program but not convinced it matters? Sunday seemed similar but the color patterns changed completely for me.

Ah Ok cool. Sounds like there was some success to be had out there. I just ordered some God's Tooth spoons. Will have to try those out next time! Also i'm just using Fire Corn right out of the jar. Sounds like I should be adding a bit to them... Thanks!

Yes definitely scent the corn. This time of year i prefer bait type scents, later as the weather warms and the fish are more aggressive i like irritants like garlic bloody tuna. Soak your corn overnight in scent, and just before putting everything in the water put some on your lure. For the Gods Tooth make sure you kokanee rig them, or just get them pre-kokanee rigged from Zombie Tinder.
