Well my 2018 Lower River Springer Season is in the books! We fished the Portland area from April 2-6th, catching fish every day! The fishing was a bit tougher than in past years due to the fish coming up in pods all season. We would have 2-3 hour dry spells followed by an hour or so of non-stop action. It was very evident that as the fish pods moved up river, our bites would come! With that said, we had to fish hard all day and remain dialed in, waiting for that hot bite. We were rewarded each day with great fishing when that pod of fish showed up! All our fish came on cut-plug herring and triangle flashers fished a crank or two off the bottom with 6-10 oz. of lead. The fish were aggressive when they showed, and they were definitely on the bait bite! Saturday, April 7th, the river closed below Bonneville Dam, but we will continue to fish for these Springers upriver as they stage to go into their spawning tributaries! I have a few open seats for Drano Lake and Wind River fishing in late April and May, so if interested in a Springer trip, give me a call ASAP and get your spots reserved! Also, if you missed out on fishing below Bonneville this year, I am already booking seats for my lower river season for 2019! I will be fishing the first week in April! These seats fill fast, so feel free to book now!
Tight Lines, Jake Munden
