I began my day inflating up at Lake Alice in the rain (I don't think it let up from morning until 1 pm or later). Got out on the lake and began trolling with flashers and a wedding ring as it was already rigged up. No one else on the lake... I don't blame them, the conditions were miserable! After 25 minutes of battling the wind in my little inflatable, I decided it wasn't worth it and thought I'd hit Beaver from the shore since I'd had success the weekend prior. Packed my boat up into the car with a considerable amount of water now on my car seats and headed to Beaver Lake.
I ended up bagging 4 fish and spending an hour and a half trying to get the elusive 5th. Those 4 came in within a 45 minutes span once I figured out what worked. As I am the type to bring home meat for the freezer, I kept looking for fish 5, I had many bites, but was having trouble setting them. They liked pinks/reds for lures, it seems. A guy came and checked on me three times - said he'd been on the other side and someone had caught a few using "red" lures. Pink was the ticket for me, though I got a few hits on a bright orange. All in all it was a nice morning fishing after getting out of Alice quickly. I'll head back there when the weather's a little nicer.

I wasn't on beaver last weekend, but got a quick limit the one before. Red was indeed the best one that time. But pink and yellow were better a week before. Funny how it changes, it might depend on light or visibility, not sure.
Good report, i might hit Beaver again next week.

I was out there two weekends ago. A pink and blue Mepp’s spinner was the best performing one for me.
