Got to the parking lot around 7am and only found one other group that had the same idea as us. Hiked along the east side just past the narrows and set up camp. The water was up a little but still fairly clear. My brother and I casted lines while dad started a fire and made some coffee, which made sitting on the shore not catching fish much more enjoyable.

My little brother showed me up by catching the only fish of the day, a very chubby 9" rainbow. No apparent success from our fellow fisherman who were across from us on the western side. Gear packed and on the trail by 10am.

Haven't seen any reports for FoJ in awhile. Anyone have any good intel? Seems like a lot of people have given up on this lake lately. I had a lot of success fishing after ice off a couple years ago.

Still a great day on the water with family!

Thank you for the report. Like you, in the past I have had decent early Spring, open water success here, but I haven't fished it in several years. I don't know what is going on (?) as large numbers of big fish were stocked.

T-Bone, I saw the stocking numbers too so I thought for sure that we were going to do better. I think we were just a little too early this year. Might give it one more shot at the end of the month just to confirm my theory.
