Got to Munn just before day light and had my first fish in the net at 7:59, a very colorful Rainbow which was on the small side, about 12”. Worked the canal section and headed over to Lake Susan but nothing was going on. On the way back to Munn, I trolled a Neddlefish fish through the canal. Watching my rod carefully as I was afraid of snagging in the shallow brush filled canal it gets slammed by a feast Cutthroat. My first ever fish trolling a spoon! I work the canal with my Slip Bobber set up and get two more Cutt’s before I headed out the Munn.
Not much happening so I long lined that Neddlefish, I mean as long as I have ever let a lure out and within a minute I get hammered by another smallish Rainbow. A short time later I get a nice big Cutt about 18 long and a fighter. Three fish on a Neddlefish in like an hour and I never even had a hit the other times I had used it.
I head back to the canal for round two and pick up 8 more fish (6 Cutt’s, 1 Bow and a Bluegill! My first ever winter Spiny-Ray. All this action took place from noon to 2pm. Nothing after that.
Some very nice color to the Bows, especially the Reflective Mint Green sides. Long day with some great periods and some very slow times too.
