Today would of really been more of a 3 star day but my ice auger that I set up attached to a 18v Makita drill worked like a boss! Forget the old days of getting all tired. Now I just punch holes. Got 3 holes done in no time and we started fishing. Probably would of got more fish if we had more Swedish pimples. Brass with a orange UV sticker and the red tag still on got all but the biggest perch was caught on a crappie jig. Also 2 RBT C&R. 5 perch in total biggest was about 11”! Good first day on the ice. I hear Palmer calling our name for next Sunday. Best part is every one got to reel in a fish. They don’t plow the way in. You would think the discovery pass your required might pay for the most popular ice fishing lake near Okanogan to get the short drive from the lake to the highway a little plow attention this time of year. So if your in any thing lower than a Subaru you may not want to drive in. If we get more snow 4x4 will be the ticket. Good luck. 5-6 inches of ice and 6-7 fishermen on the lake. Fished about 40 yards out in front of the handicap fishing pier on the north side.

What a great way to spend time with the kids. I remember ice fishing for perch with my dad: very special times indeed. That was many years ago but it is still remembered as one of the great things we did in the winter.

Nice job! I completely agree about the lack of plowing. Frustrates me significantly. I hear the Palmer perch bites is best from 3 PM until dark.

And then the Burbot bite starts! I’m thinking Palmer Saturday night or Sunday. See what the wife says.

I've heard the burbot have declined in that lake. Let me know how you do!
