The moon was like a huge macaroon on the horizon as we slipped The Doghouse into the still waters of Badger Lake. Since The Doghouse is a trailered boat-predator of trout, we appreciated the launching ramps at the Public Launch. The stars still twinkled as we set our course for a fine morning's fishing, trolling the lower part of the lake. Wisps of mist rising from the still waters of the lake seem to add mystery to where those fish were hiding. The Ospreys nested on the power pole near the cliffs rising up from the lake screeched their hellos as we passed beneath the power lines (I think they recognize us by now!). Meanwhile, we were catching 13" - 16" cutthroats... We went three-colors deep, taking advantage of slightly cooler water temperatures, our collective wisdom, fishing know-how, AND a really sharp fish finder. As per tradition, both the BB of BLs lost lures into the lake, but DID catch limits as well. All in all, the lake and all its ambience made for a great fishing experience. Gawd, Badger Lake is FINE FISHING early in the morning--- and with the exception of some squarehead leaving his trash on the ground near the boat launching area(what is the major malfunction that causes such jerk-behaviour by litterbugging?), a perfect morning! Badger Lake: 5!! Litterbugs: Less than Zero!
