Had a great opportunity to hook up with Guide Paul Lewis of Fast Action Fishing Adventures to hit Lake Sammamish for some coastal cutthroat.
We started about 9:30am and Paul got us into fish shortly thereafter. The bite was not hot and the fish were scattered but Paul really knows what he is doing and got us into fish in spite of the challenges. God blessed with 13 fish between the both of us. We kept 5 for dinner and released 8. The 50/50 blue, silver shiner and red/white prototype God's Tooth spoons were the most effective for me. Paul started by using Reli lures Diamond Flash spinners which included red, orange and 50/50 gold/silver and was having good success. Some time later, he switched to a few God's Tooth spoons as well.
I used a dodger with the God's Tooth most of the time but did catch a couple without a dodger. I used no bait or scent while Paul did use some hook tipped worms and maggots. The fish were mainly caught at 20'-25'. I used about a 77' set back and a 14" leader from dodger to trailing hook of the Reli lures Kokanee trolling rig. The weather was cold but sunny.
I just can't say enough good things about Paul's expertise and knowledge of Lake Sammamish cutts! He definitely will get you into fish and I appreciated his dedication to do so. This was the first time I fished with Paul and am proud to recommend him to anyone interested in a guided service on Lake Sammamish!
