So after my buddy Matthew called and said he was going to try and make it today with his son, I got to the launch around 9 am and was taking my time getting the boat ready when I met "here fishy-fishy" and her husband! Had some great conversation and then they were off in search of cutts! I played around a while longer warming up the boat with my heater buddy but soon he called and said he couldn't make it. Darn was looking forward to running more then 1 rod today but motored out to start my troll near the launch as I had noticed the water temp was warmer there then in the middle of the lake.

No sooner did I get settled in my phone rings and Matthew said they were on their way! Yay! Raced back to pick them up and we got started just past the first bend out of the launch as there were plenty of bugs on the water and marks on my screen. Set out the lead core line with the RMT 5.5" sling blade and the Yakima bait hootchie rig tipped with pink gulp maggots, another with a humdinger lure and the third with a Mack's fly with smile blade.

Not long into it the lead core line peels off and it's fish on! Christian fought it hard but soon he was just reeling in the lure so back out it went for another chance. This time the rod buried and saw a nice splash 120 feet behind the boat so it was another fish on! He ( with some help from dad) soon brought it alongside the boat so I could net it and it was a fat 15.5" beauty!

Unfortunately he got a call that he had to get back right away so turned out to be a shortened trip but at least we got into a couple in a short period of time and was able to make it back for kickoff! Another beautiful day on the water and met some nice folks to boot! See you on the water!
