Arrived at Lake Sammamish around 9:15 am. Met Salmonberry at the boat dock. Nice putting names to faces of others here on the forum. After talking "fish" with him, my husband and I set out for some fishing. We traveled up the east side of the lake heading north. We rounded the point and were slammed with midges. We were literally covered in them.
Not long after rounding the point, my husband landed a nice 15". After an hour I picked up a 15". After another hour of nothing, "fish on". Got it right to the boat and "fish off". Another hour, nothing. Then 3 hits within a short span of time. My husband landed a 14", followed by me landing a whooping 18.5" and lost another nice one that decided to go airborne at the boat. Almost thought it was going to jump in but no such luck. Went dead for a while then finally I picked up a 14". After being out about 5 hours, we decided to start heading back. I picked up one last fish, a little 12" that I released to swim another day. So to sum it up - Caught 6, keep 5, released 1 and lost 2.
We were using downriggers set at 25'. Set back 80' - 90'. My fish were caught using an Elgin God's Tooth spoon 50/50 gold/silver and a Mack DD silver dodger. My husband caught 1 on a Reli Lure - Diamond Flash Spinner 50/50 gold/silver and Simon orange/green/copper dodger and 1 on Elgin God's Tooth spoon 50/50 blue/silver and Mack DD gold dodger.
