Fishing cassidy for crappie been in my mind for a long time but never have the will to do it with all the salmon and steelhead season going on. Rivers are flooded and what eles is there to do. So call up one of my buddy who's been wanting try crappie fishing. We met up at my house and on the water by 1:30pm. We anchored up by the dock across the lake faceing north side of the lake, casting with the wind for further distances. Bobber jig with crappie nibbles was our setup in 15ft deep water. Stayed till 330pm. Got 13 crappies overall. Nothing big just normal average 9".

Wow I put my fishing gear away too soon. Nice ones. You were really in deep water. How deep was your jig?

No, not around this time of year. Need a boat or a kayak.

Thank you for posting this, I have always wanted to try crappie. I've only heard of them east of the mountains, now I 've seen them on 2 separate posts. Some lake down by Eatonville, which I want to try both.

Many of the places that have crappie on the west side of the state are small (less than 10 acres) and because of that shouldn't be named on the internet for the sake of regulars who already fish it. There are also some lowland lakes that get stocked with trout that have crappies aswell. Lake cassidy for example is one of these lakes, there are several others aswell. The lakes without hatchery trout have the best populations and size of crappies as the trout compete for resources with them and vise versa.

A good way to obtain location information (for any fishery) is to use google maps to locate lakes/ponds/etc then check the googles to see if it gets stocked, then check to make sure its open for fishing and explore. Look for big ponds and small lakes with no stocked trout. The best places require personal footwork and homework to get to, some require a sever bushwack to get to then a float tube to fish it properly. Good luck.

A few i am ok with naming: lake Mcmurray, lake Cassidy, lake Campbell.
