The guppy sails again. The Tin Guppy has been in the yards for a few update modifications and today was her sea trial test. Have a new Lowrance HDS 7 Gen 3 using an Airmar P 66 was the main part of the upgrade. Also put on an electric winch that my friend Larry gave me , and to top it all off I added a horn, going big time now no more whistles for me. Larry and I launched out of Ft. Spokane and started fishing around 8 AM. We were pulling an Orange Kekeda Fly on one side an a smaller perch Kekeda fly on the other. If it was a race it would have been a photo finish. While looking for RB #10 I put a brand new large (trolling) Perch Kekeda on the 3rd rod and right away got 2 hits on it. One didn't stick but the second one was number 10. Tried a little while for Walleye but only managed to hook another rainbow that we released. Had 3 wild fish that all went back to the water. None of the fish were really outstanding but they were all pretty nice. I would say the 10 today averaged a bit bigger than the ones I caught in the same place in October.
The DepthFinder
The new Gen 3 gave me a bit of a hard time for awhile but once I got things straightened out it never glitched or locked up once like my old Elite 7 HDI did and that was what I was looking for. On the down side I could never get the temperature to read right. It was showing 80 when it should have been showing 50 and the largest offset I could enter was -9.9. Will get with the suppliers and see what I can do about this but temperature is not a deal breaker for me.
An electric winch on a 16 ft Hewescraft is a bit over kill but hey, it was there. I haven't been getting younger recently either.
The icing was the horn, it sounds Great!
