We went to my In-Laws on the Hood Canal (private beach) for Veterans Day weekend and tore up the oysters and clams. Easy pickings and the oysters were fantastic. We plucked about 5 dozen and enjoyed them grilled with a little garlic butter and hot sauce. Can’t wait to go back at Christmas time.

P.S.- for the wanna be game wardens, the oysters are from our private beach, therefore there are no limits and chucking is not required.

FYI
I didnt know the rules regarding private beaches, so I looked them up.

Tideland Ownership

Most Puget Sound, Hood Canal, Grays Harbor, and Willapa Bay beaches are privately owned. SHELLFISH and SEAWEED may not be taken from private beaches without the owner's or lessee's permission. Private tideland owners and lessees, and members of their immediate family (grandparents, parents, spouse, siblings, children, and grandchildren) are exempt from personal use daily limits when taking CLAMS, OYSTERS, and MUSSELS harvested for their own personal use from their own tidelands. Daily limits apply for all other shellfish, all other people, and all other beaches. Everyone harvesting shellfish in excess of the daily limit from private beaches for presumed commercial purposes needs a shellfish certification from the Department of Health (see RCW 69.30.010(8)).

It's getting to be the best time of the year for oysters. They are so much better in the winter months. We used to do a December night trip to the canal with a co-worker whose dad owned property there. The darn fool sold it without enen letting his son know. Just like your beach. it was loaded with oysters, clams, & few gooeyducks. I'm licking my chops just looking at your pics!!
