I stopped by here Monday evening and made a few casts from shore with zero results. Unfortunately on cast number twenty or so I snagged and subsequently snapped off my top producer!! So of course after work today I ran up to retrieve it ha ha. I launched about 1:30 and the lake was experiencing a brown out! Dark water and a nasty film on top? I went to the piling where I lost my bait and sure enough, there it was, down in the center of the piling! The epic version would be I tied it back on and knocked the crap out of them...the actual version involves pitching soft plastics the whole time due to the water clarity. Lost the first fish in the pilings and it was a good one! Caught the next one ten casts later it went 2-ish. Caught 4 more as I hoped around from spot to spot but nothing with any size. The pads are still pretty thick in spots and the water has only come up about a foot, still plenty of time left. The deepest fish came from 8 feet, all the rest were in 5 or less. Water temps were 54-55*.

As our fall season progresses, at what water temp does Bass fishing slow or shut down?

It's like Spring in reverse, your baits should slow down as the water temps fall. Bass will eat all year but it has to be easy prey. Whatever you fish make it easy to swallow and move it as slow as possible for largemouth. Two schools of thought here, either downsize or go BIG and extremely slow! Low 50's I like jerkbaits and jigs, high 40's jigs and Carolina rigged Senkos, low 40's and I will crawl swimbaits or stick with jigs and Carolina rigs. I lengthen my Carolina leader out to six feet to get a very slow fall. The next three months are tricky but not impossible, if you have electronics put the time into finding some kind of bait and pack your patience!
