I decided late notice before the Seahawks game to try and sneak a few hours in of fishing before the eternal gloom hits. Arrived at the launch late, almost 9am. By the time I had lines down it was almost 9:30. I was going to have to hustle! Tried out my new Fish Hawk, pedaled out to the deepest spot just in front of the launch, and dropped it to the bottom. Neat little tool. Can't wait for Kokanee in the spring to try it out for real. (Temp was pretty uniform all the way down to 50 feet, 54-55 degrees.) Fog was very thick and disorienting, a few times I really had to try and think about when I was. I actually almost pulled out the Google map to make sure I was where I thought I was on the lake.

One line I ran my standard dodger and fly. In the 2 hours I fished, it of course wound up being the last one I threw on the got bit, a size 4 black woolly bugger. On the other line I was messing out with some Elgin Fishing God's Tooth Spoon set ups. Different patterns, kokanee rigs with Dodger and without, also tried tipping with a gulp worm. Last set up I tried was a 50/50 gold set to fast action 2 feet behind micro pop gear. I also smeared a little Pro Cure Trophy Trout Gel on the gold part of the spoon. I tried this set up when I only had about 15-20 minutes left to fish before I needed to dock and get out of Dodge in time to make it home for the game. Landed a beautiful almost 18 inch very healthy and fat rainbow on it. On the black woolly bugger I landed the other 2 fish, those cane in at 16 1/2 and 17 inches. I love the fall fish at Goodwin. They are still fickle and can really make you work, but they sure are a lot of fun to watch the deep bend in the downrigger, get aerial and make a loud splash, and take off of a few runs. Add a UL kokanee rod and it's a great time.

Fish had completely moved since I was out a few weeks ago. They had been stacked at the very south end, today I found most marks mid lake and in deeper water then where I normally find fish this time of year. Most fish were holding in 35 feet of water, 25 feet down up to about 10 feet. Only fish that bit were at 25 feet.

Fun quick morning, fairly certain I could have stuck it out a bit longer and limited, but I really wanted to.get back for the game. Fun trying to figure out a God's Tooth combo that works there. So many different ways to fish those spoons. Not sure if it was dumb luck or if I have actually found a combo for the God's Tooth that works there. Guess it means In will have to explore it more! This lake has a pretty hard off switch over the colder months, so if you are so inclined, I would get out soon.

Noticed my hotspot isn't even on the lake! All fish caught North of the launch, east side, just past the first cove.

Excellent report as always! Those are fantastic sized fish. I need to get out there and play around a little too. Good looking micro pop gear set up:) I think I have an idea to try!

Any day now the lake is going to get about 17k small 8 inch or so plants that are nice fish come spring, but annoying now. They hang close to the launch and surface for about a month before scattering. I usually avoid them by keeping my gear down deeper.

Hi Josh, so the wife and I ended up catching 3 trout at Cranberry about 400' from the dock trolling the middle. I noticed you didn't stay long. The lake still has a lot of high weeds. In a couple of months it should be better for trolling. It was nice to meet you. Like I said I always follow yours and Elgins reports.

Yea the areas I like to troll for trout there were crazy with tall lake timber. Many places weeds right to the surface. Think I spent more time with my lines out cleaning them off than I did with them in the water actually fishing :) That and I couldn't stay away from the perch. I usually get a few perch there targeting rainbows, but that morning was nuts for perch.
