Got to Fazon after fleeing Wiser at 0900.
Tough going at first and I only boated one small fish in the first 200 yards. Lake was predominately algae free and the water temps were in the low 60's. I caught the first fish pitching a Rage Craw in the pads. This activity was spooking fish near the surface so I tried a spinnerbait on the outside edge and got one pounder. Then a swim jig and caught a little better one, maybe two pounds?
Senkos did not get touched and that is odd for this lake. I continued around to the north side switching between pitching and throwing the swim jig. Made a pitch into a floating lily pad root and before I could engage my reel I felt the tap. Set the hook and game on, big fish! Fought her in and lifted her out, she would be a new personal best for Fazon at 6 pounds 9 ounces! From here on out, pitching was the deal. I picked up a few more on the next lap including a 4.1, all from the north and east sides.
My batteries started to weaken so I decided to head for lunch and maybe fish something on the way home but eventually opted to just head home and edit the GoPro video for YouTube.
The bees are crazy right now and when you venture near the pads expect to be swarmed! I didn't get stung...this time but it is about the only thing I don't like about this time of year....grumpy little buggers!
