After hearing about the fishing up on Whatcom Wednesday my wife wanted to run up there to spectate and enjoy the scenery so away we went!

The scenario was the same, fished mainly grubs in deeper water near wood. Hit a couple decent ones, some dinks but again nothing really over 3lbs. Got a couple better ones on the spinnerbait in the very south end of the lake but the rest came from wood cover along the rocky shoreline on the east side across from the island and south from there.

Tried Ned rigs and tubes but the grubs got the majority of the action!

Nice pics with the sunlight - Sure shows why they are called bronze backs.

Nice report. Whatcom has always been my go to lake for small mouth. Although lately the fishing has been tough, not sure if that is me or the fish. My go to technique is to work a dropshot or a shaky head along submerged logs in 20 to 30 feet of water. Smaller plastics seem to do better. The takes are very subtle, but this approach seems to work. I work my lures very slowly and methodically. I am planning on hitting the lake today at the South end. Hope to have some pics and a report up.
