Wind forecast was good for sailing so that was the main goal yesterday. Last time I went sailing there was no wind. As the forecast was for 9mph winds I didn’t take a rod. Well fool me once etc, as they say.

This time I took a medium weight rod rigged with a shallow diving crankbait and a landing net. Well the sailing was great but it was a wet sail and I was getting cold so I decided to shelter and fish in one of the sheltered bays and troll for Bass / Pike. Well the fishing was as good as the sailing. After a few 10” Smallmouth Bass I hooked into something way more formidable. A Lake Coeur d’ Alene Northern Pike. Trolled a Rapala Bx Jointed Minow in Perch colors along the weed edges in 15ft of water.

Good looking pike. Even better that you got it on your Hobie!

Thanks Brad. That was a blast. I could use a bigger net though!!!. The Hobie Tandem Island is a great fishing platform for me, just have to iron out my techniques and get used to fishing from it.

Nice going. Sometimes an accidental pike catch can turn a guy into a pike fishing addict, once you experience the fight. Nice fish!

Thanks AJ's Dad. I always enjoy your reports. I fish the north end usually and have caught some nice size pike in some of those north end bays. I have to try down south for a change of scenery though.
