Lake Ann - Mt Baker
We planned to backpack into Chain Lakes to fish but the folks at the Ranger station recommended Lake Ann. They said there were only 8 campsites at Chain Lakes and that we'd have to turn back if there were no spots available (we were heading up Sunday and it was that busy?). Packing in and then not being able to camp wouldn't have been good as it was our 9 yr old's first backpacking trip. I hadn't checked out fishing reports for Lake Ann, but I thought I'd take our fishing gear anyway. I tried fishing Lake Ann a couple times over the two days we were there but no bites and no risers. Tried spinners, spoons, and wet flys. The lake had plenty of bugs in the water for trout to eat, but I don't think its deep enough to prevent winter kill. It was a beautiful lake with Shuksan towering above it.
