Hit Munn today knowing that it was a Warm Water Fish type of day. Drove all the way from Renton and forgot my Tackle Case. Oh well, just a Spinning outfit with 1 Trout Magnet and a Fly Rod with a Muddler Minnow attached. Nothing else! Oh, a quick look into my pontoons side pouch and I found 3 more TM's and a fake worm.
I had on a Mealworms color TM which has been smoking for Bluegill and Crappie the past trip to Munn. I started out with two quick Perch before I launched at 7:15am from the shore...this is not he norm at Munn.
Rowed out to an area mid way up the lake and put the Mealworm to work....3 more Perch! WTH? 5 Perch which was a personal best at Munn before I even caught one Bluegill.....something funny is going on.
Well things balanced out sorta of, as I ended up with over 75 Bluegill, 28 Crappie, 8 LMB and 7 Perch.
The 8 LMB was also a personal high for me at Munn.
Bluegill were up to 8-9" and feisty, with most being 5-6". Crappie were very nice, about 10" and strong.
LMB were up to 12", but mainly 10". I even caught my largest Perch today, about 11".
So the surprise was the LMB and Perch activity. I mainly see my TM set up but did catch 3 Bluegill and 1 Crappie on the fly rod.
Saw a Bass fisherman and he said he caught some with a Top Water Frog and said that another angler that was targeting Bass had his pole broken in half by a big bass...he guessed that he to was top water fishing. I saw the guy, but dcould not tell what his technique was from a distance.
Was off the lake at 1:30 pm
Remember, Munn is a Select Gear Lake...NO BAIT! NO TREBLES, NO SCENT, NO KEEP! It is checked regularly for poaching too!
