First time to Panther Lake. I launched the kayak at approximately 7:15 am and went to work. The lake surface was looking smooth and there was a light mist hanging off the water surface. It was looking to be a promising day with the lily pads all along the shorelines. Well, I cast a surface lure, floating frog, rooster tail, plastic worm, and chatterbait. I worked hard for the next few hours. Landed three LMB (two @ 14-ounces each, and one @ 1-lb 1-ounce). Lost two LMB with a wicked launching out of the water and shaking of their entire bodies - it was spectacular! The lake water is a dark-tint color and I stuck with brown-pumpkin colors along with off-white. All of the fish I caught and lost were near the lake shorelines on the east and west side of the lake.
I noticed a couple fishing near the lilly pads for bluegill. When I went back to the launch area to call it a day, they follow suit shortly after I did and told me they caught really decent-size bluegill and showed me a fat, large yellow perch they caught near the lilly pads. If you want your fill of bluegill go to the northeast section of the lake and work the lilly pads.
