Had a decent day pike fishing on Cda lake Saturday. I managed only 5 fish but other than a slim 18"er, the fish were of good quality. One 29"er, two 30"ers and a 36" 14 pounder made for a good trip. I did miss a couple others that would have pushed my rating a little higher.
All fish were caught on spinner baits. White worked as well as an orange and chartreuse combo. Fish were in about 12 feet of water just outside the weed lines. I tried them deeper in the weeds and farther off the weed edge but found no takers there. I'm still not catching them in large numbers but the size is pretty nice, and should get even better as water temps drop. Water temps were 67 at 8am and climbed to 71 by 4pm. Weather forecasts are showing the upcoming temps to start dropping late this week going down to the low to mid 80's, then into the 70's within the next 10 days. Hopefully the fall season is just around the corner.

Thanks for the info! I'm an avid fisherman but never fished up here before or even caught a pike! Visiting for the weekend and have access to some kayaks, sounds like I have a chance at catching one! What pound test do you use for them? Braid to fluorocarbon leader? Any other tips for catching fish in lake cda?

I use 30lb PowerPro braid and an 80lb flouro leader. The fish have been consistently preferring spinner baits lately but glide baits, spoons, and jerk baits will catch them as well. Spend your time casting to the outside of weed edges that have deep water close by. Vary your retrieve until you figure out what speed they want for the day you're fishing. Some days they want it fast and some days they want it slow. Water temps are dropping and more fish are moving in towards the shallow water. Stay on your toes. This is the time of year the BIG ones move in to feed and you can easily get towed around by a 40"er in a kayak. :)
