9/5/2017 4:20:18 PMWe were there from the 27-29th in our 24' Riverhawk. We averaged 2-3 fish day but it was long days of fishing. Seemed like average fish was 10lbs to 12lbs for us. Marker 17 halfway out seemed to be where the fish were for us. Herring and a banana weight out 20 pulls. We did get two large natives "dip ins" which we released in the water along side the boat.
Unfortunately not sure if its true but we heard something disturbing about this fishery. All of the local hatcheries are reducing from 1 million to about 350,000 fish released due to funding. So it appears that the fishing in Williapa will be reducing it's next years catch because of it. It's a fun place to fish. Nothing like catching a 12lb king in only 20' of water. Nice aerial shows!
